Home My WebLink About~Master - Contract and Bond for Grand Avenue Extension (South 16th Street North 400 feet) RESOLUTION NO. 11-377 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF GRAND AVENUE EXTENSION (SOUTH 16TH STREET NORTH 400 FEET) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the Grand Avenue Extension(South 16'Street North 400 Feet); and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received by the Iowa Department of Transportation on the 19t1i day of July, 2011, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by Howard R. Green Company, Engineers; and, WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Con-Struct, Inc., of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of$466,290.49 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract with the Iowa Department of Transportation,the City of Ames, Iowa, and Con-Struct, Inc., of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of$466,290.49 dated the 26t' day of July, 2011, for the construction of the Grand Avenue Extension(South 16t' Street North 400 Feet) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual), as surety thereon,in the amount of$466,290.49 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 9'day of August, 2011. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk Ann H.
