RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER FOR
ADDITIONAL WORK DUE TO POOR SOIL CONDITIONS FOR
INTERMODAL FACILITY CONSTRUCTION
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, the Intermodal Facility construction project began in March 2011 and is
progressing on-schedule to date; and,
WHEREAS, since beginning construction, change orders have been approved for
unanticipated modifications; and,
WHEREAS, due to poor soil conditions where the large retaining wall is being built near
College Creek, additional height is required for the sheet piling included in the original project
scope; and,
WHEREAS,the amount for this work for Change Order No. 11 is$45,289,which combined
with the previously approved change orders of$7,172,provides a cumulative total of$52,461; and,
WHEREAS,under Procurement Policies,change orders that exceed$50,000 cumulatively,
require City Council approval; and,
WHEREAS, the contract Change Order No. 11 in the amount of$45,289 was approved by
the Ames Transit Agency Board of Trustees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that Change Order No. 11 in an amount not to exceed$45,289 with The Weitz Company, LLC, of
Des Moines, Iowa, for sheet piling as a result of poor soil conditions, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 26t'' day of July, 2011.
