Home My WebLink About~Master - Contract/bond for 2010/11 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements RESOLUTION NO. 11-157 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2010/11 ARTERIAL STREET PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS (6TH STREET FROM NORTHWESTERN AVENUE TO GRAND AVENUE) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2010/11 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements (6' Street from Northwestern Avenue to Grand Avenue); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 16' day of March, 2011, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by WHKS & Co. and filed with the City Clerk on the 18' day of February, 2011; and, WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Con-Struct, Inc., of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of$396,314.60 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said proj ect; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames,Iowa, and Con-Struct,Inc., of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of$396,314.60 dated the 22"d day of March, 2011, for the construction of the 2010/11 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements(6t'Street from Northwestern Avenue to Grand Avenue) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual) of Des Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of $396,314.60 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 12'day of April, 2011. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk Ann H.
