HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street closures for VEISHEA 2011 RESOLUTION NO. 11-107 RESOLUTION APPROVING TURN LANE AND STREET CLOSURES FOR VEISHEA EVENTS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, VEISHEA organizers are requesting that they be allowed to temporarily close various streets in the south of Campus area in order to facilitate the movement of parade entries to the staging area in the early morning hours(generally 3:00 a.m.to 6:00 a.m.)on April 16,2011;and, WHEREAS,the Ames Police will be managing the temporary closure of the streets as entries are moved; and, WHEREAS, left turn lanes on Lincoln Way at Union Drive(near the Memorial Union)and Welch Avenue north of Lincoln Way will be closed on Friday, April 15, starting at noon until Sunday morning, April 17; and, WHEREAS, streets will be closed only long enough for the floats and other large entries to pass through the intersections; and, WHEREAS, lastly, the left turn lane on Lincoln Way at Union Drive (near the Knoll)will be closed as needed on the morning of April 16 while the parade is under way. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the requested turn lane and street closures to assist with facilitating the parade staging and events occurring on Central Campus and near the Memorial Union for VEISHEA activities are hereby approved. .
