HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street closures for Hope Run for Hospice RESOLUTION NO. 11-089 RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURES FOR HOPE RUN FOR HOSPICE FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, Mary Greeley Medical Center (MGMC) is sponsoring the 1 Vh Annual Hope Run for Hospice on Saturday, June 11, 2011,beginning at 8:00 a.m.; and, WHEREAS, due to conflicts in the Downtown area, organizers have decided to move the route to west Ames; and, WHEREAS,this new route will start at the Ames Middle School and end back at the School parking lot; and, WHEREAS, in order to facilitate the movement of the participants in the Run/Walk, temporary street closures will be needed on the 11' of June as follows: the westbound lane of Mortensen Road from the east Middle School Drive to State Avenue, from 5:30 a.m. to approximately 8:30 a.m.; and, State Avenue from Mortensen Road to Lettie Street, from 5:30 a.m. to approximately 10:00 a.m.; and, WHEREAS, furthermore,the following streets need to be closed on June 11 from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 10:00 a.m.: Lettie Street from State Avenue to South Wilmoth Avenue; South Wilmoth Avenue from Lettie Street to Tripp Street; Tripp Street from South Wilmoth Avenue to Beedle Drive;Beedle Drive from Aplin Road to Lincoln Swing; Lincoln Swing from Beedle Drive to Abraham Drive; and, Abraham Drive from Lincoln Swing to the shared use path; and, WHEREAS, Public Works Traffic Division will provide barricades and traffic cones to facilitate the road closures, and volunteers recruited by Mary Greeley will staff them. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the aforementioned street closures for the MGMC's Hope Run for Hospice on June 11, 2011, are hereby approved.
