HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract/bond for construction of Ames Intermodal Facility RESOLUTION NO. 11-085 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF AMES INTERMODAL FACILITY FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the Ames Intermodal Facility Construction Project;and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 1 S' day of January, 2011, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by Neumann Monson Architects,PC,and filed with the City Clerk on the 14'day of December,2010;and, WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Weitz Company of Des Moines, Iowa, in the amount of$7,115,000 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames,Iowa, and Weitz Company of Des Moines, Iowa, in the amount of $7,115,000 dated the 22nd day of February, 2011, for the Ames Inter-nodal Facility Construction Project as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof,and the performance bond of the said contractor with Federal Insurance Company of Warren,New Jersey, as surety thereon,in the amount of$7,115,000.00 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS Ft day of March, 2011. Q\-- Diane R.
