HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Change Order for 2010/11 CDBG Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvements RESOLUTION NO. 10-523 RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER FOR 2010/11 CDBG PUBLIC FACILITIES NEIGHBORHOOD INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,this project is part of the City's 2010/11 Community Development Block Grant(CDBG) Annual Action Plan to pave an existing gravel street,North 4th Street,which is in a targeted census tract where at least 51% of the residents have income at or below 80%of the Story County median income limits; and, WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvements Program(curb, streets, sidewalks, etc.), targeted to low-and moderate-income census tracts,and the objective is to replace and/or repair curbs,driveway approaches,sidewalks,and/or street resurfacing areas that have deteriorated and are causing premature pavement failure; and, WHEREAS,the overall goal of the program is to preserve and enhance the viability and aesthetics of our core existing neighborhoods; and, WHEREAS,the first round of bids was received and a contract was awarded to Manatt's,Inc.,on July 27, 2010, in the amount of$315,507, and at the time bids were taken,the project included a bid alternate for removing and replacing the existing concrete at the intersection ofNorth Hazel Avenue and North 4th Street;and, WHEREAS, this alternate was added due to the possibility of lower bids to maximize the CDBG funding,and at the time of the award,the alternate was not selected due to undetermined CDBG funding beyond the allocated$325,000; and, WHEREAS,although the main intent of the proj ect was just to pave the gravel portions of the roadway, since bids came in lower than the original budget and in order to meet the expenditure requirement for the CDBG program, this would be a good time to include the alternate work as a change order to the original contract; and, WHEREAS, the additional amount is $60,052.70, which would bring the total cost of the project to $375,560. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Change Order, as outlined in the alternate bid, for the 2010/11 CDBG Public Facilities Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvements Program is hereby approved.
