HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Change order for Wind Storm Debris Mulching Contract RESOLUTION NO. 10-521 RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER TO CONTRACT FOR WIND STORM DEBRIS MULCHING FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, on July 18, 2010, the City of Ames was subject to a wind storm that caused extensive damage to trees on public and private property; and, WHEREAS, at that time,the City opened a debris drop-off site to allow citizens to dispose of their storm debris and for City forces to deposit debris that was picked up from the right-of-way; and, WHEREAS,at that time,the City went out for bids and awarded a contract to J.Pettiecord,Inc., for the mulching of the debris and for hauling off debris not used by the public; and, WHEREAS, on September 28, 2010, the City Council approved a change order for the mulching contract to take the total to $52,200; and, WHEREAS, the mulch was then offered for free to the public, and in mid-October, all remaining mulch was hauled away by the contractor,and the total for the hauling amounted to$19,800 for all the remaining mulch; and, WHEREAS, this exceed 20% of the contract requiring City Council approval. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the Change Order with J.Pettiecord,Inc.,in an amount not to exceed$19,800 for the wind storm debris mulching contract, for a total contract amount of$72,000, is hereby approved.
