HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for 2010/11 Downtown Street Pavement Improvements RESOLUTION NO. 10-461 RESOLUTION APPROVING ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR 2011/11 DOWNTOWN STREET PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, this annual program is for the rehabilitation/reconstruction of streets within the downtown area(Lincoln Way to 7t'Street and Grand Avenue to Duff Avenue); and, WHEREAS, the Downtown Improvements Study recommended several improvement projects in the downtown area; and, WHEREAS,since that time,Main Street,5t'Street,6'Street,Kellogg Avenue,and Burnett Avenue have all benefitted from improvement projects identified by the Downtown Improvements Study; and, WHEREAS,these projects involved pavement reconstruction,rehabilitation of storm and sanitary sewers, and streetcapes; and, WHEREAS,the 2010/11 project locations are Kellogg Avenue(Main Street to 7t'Street)and Main Street(Allan Drive to Clark Avenue); and, WHEREAS, this project will include replacement of the roadway pavement, replacement of the sidewalk along Kellogg Avenue, placement of a strip of colored concrete behind curb, basic design for Electric,including conduit and handholds, ornamental street lights(Main to 6t'Street), as well as sanitary and storm sewer rehabilitation/replacement; and, WHEREAS, staff requested engineering proposals for several drainage and street improvements, including this project, and through this process, the City received nine proposals from engineering firms; and, WHEREAS,Civil Design Advantage is being recommended to complete the design for this project due to its extensive project knowledge and approach. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the engineering services agreement with Civil Design Advantage of Grimes,Iowa,in an amount not to exceed $162,618.00 for the 2010/11 Downtown Street Pavement Improvements is hereby approved.
