RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF PARKING METER FEES AND
ENFORCEMENT FOR AMES HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING PARADE
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the Ames High School Homecoming Committee has requested to hold its
Homecoming Parade on Monday, September 27, 2010; and,
WHEREAS, at its meeting on September 14, the City Council approved the Committee's
request to close portions of Downtown streets and City Hall Parking Lots MM and M from 5:30 p.m.
to 7:30 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS, staff has learned that there will be a number of activities occurring in City Hall
between the hours of 5:30 and 8:00 p.m. that evening; and,
WHEREAS, in order to provide parking for those who would have normally been able to park
in Lots MM or M,staff is further asking the City Council to waive parking enforcement in Lot N(east
of City Hall) from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS, access to that parking lot will be available from Clark Avenue via Sixth Street;
and,
WHEREAS, since the vast majority of City Hall offices are closed at this time, staff estimates
that lost parking revenue from the meters in Lot N will be minimal.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that
the request to waive parking enforcement in Parking Lot N, east of City Hall, from 5:00 p.m. to
6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27,2010, for the Ames High School Homecoming Parade is hereby
approved.
ADOPTED THIS 21 st day of September, 2010.
