HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Suspension of parking enforcement for AHS Homecoming Parade RESOLUTION NO. 10-444 RESOLUTION APPROVING SUSPENSION OF PARKING METER FEES FOR AMES HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, Ames High School has requested to hold its Homecoming Parade on Monday, September 27, 2010; and, WHEREAS,the parade will begin at the Grand Avenue overpass on Main Street,proceed east on Main Street, north on Douglas Avenue, west on 5t1' Street, and end next to City Hall; and, WHEREAS, it will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately 45-60 minutes; and, WHEREAS, to help facilitate this event, the Homecoming Committee is requesting a waiver of parking meter fees and enforcement in the Main Street Cultural District from 5:30 p.m.to 6:00 p.m. and, WHEREAS, lost revenue to the Parking Fund would equate to approximately$50; and, WHEREAS,the Main Street Cultural District has been informed of the parade,and it supports the activity. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the suspension of parking meter fees and enforcement for the Ames Homecoming Parade on September 27, 2010, is hereby approved.
