RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURES FOR
AMES HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING PARADE
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, Ames High School has requested to hold its Homecoming Parade on Monday,
September 27, 2010; and,
WHEREAS,the parade will begin at the Grand Avenue overpass on Main Street,proceed east
on Main Street, north on Douglas Avenue, west on 5t1' Street, and end next to City Hall; and,
WHEREAS, it will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately 45-60 minutes; and,
WHEREAS,to help facilitate this event,the Homecoming Committee is requesting that the City
Council approve the closure of portions of Main Street,Douglas Avenue,Fifth Street,Burnett Avenue,
Kellogg Avenue, Clark Avenue,and Pearle Avenue from 5:30 p.m. to approximately 7:30 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS,barricades staffed by adult volunteers will be placed on streets along this parade
route for traffic control purposes; and,
WHEREAS,the Main Street Cultural District has been informed of the parade,and it supports
the activity.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that
the aforementioned street closures for the Ames Homecoming Parade on September 27,2010,is hereby
approved.
