HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for Unit 7 Circulating Water Pipe Rehabilitation RESOLUTION NO. 10-424 RESOLUTION APPROVING ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR MISCELLANEOUS BOILER PROJECTS II AT THE POWER PLANT (PROJECT 3: UNIT NO.7 CIRCULATING WATER PIPE REHABILITATION) FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, there are three upcoming projects affecting Electric Services' boilers located at the Power Plant,and staff has consolidated the required engineering services portions of these projects into a single Request for Proposal (RFP); and, WHEREAS,a single RFP allows staff to procure these services more efficiently since each prof ect requires similar qualifications from engineering firms; and, WHEREAS, on July 13, 2010, the Proposal document was issued to ten firms, and on August 13, staff received competitive proposals for engineering services from five firms for Project 1 and from six firms for Projects 2 and 3; and, WHEREAS,the proposals were evaluated and scored,and the evaluations were based on price,experience, and qualifications; and, WHEREAS,Project 3 provides for engineering services for the rehabilitation of the circulating water pipe located in Unit No. 7; and, WHEREAS, the scope of work requires the engineering firm to: 1) review the pipe condition by interviewing staff and reviewing past inspection records; 2) make a rehabilitation method recommendation for alternatives to ensure the pipe can operate leak free; 3)prepare the technical specifications;4)provide a detailed cost estimate; 5)provide a bidder's list; 6)collaborate with the City on the bid evaluation and selection process; and,7)administerthe rehabilitation contract,which consists ofproviding field construction oversight/management of the contract and contractor during periods of field work; and, WHEREAS, staff recommends that a contract be awarded to Burns & McDonnell of Chesterfield, Missouri,in an amount not to exceed$50,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Engineering Services Agreement for Miscellaneous Boiler Projects II at the Power Plant for Project 3: Unit No. 7 Circulating Water Pipe Rehabilitation with Burns&McDonnell of Chesterfield,Missouri, in an amount not to exceed$50,000 is hereby approved.
