HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - 2010 Bureau of Justice Assistance Grant Program RESOLUTION NO. 10-421 RESOLUTION APPROVING ACCEPTANCE OF 2010 BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, on June 22,2010,the City Council approved the Police Department's request to apply for the 2010 Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant(JAG); and, WHEREAS, the grant conditions required that the application be filed jointly with the Story County Sheriff's Office, which was completed and submitted; and, WHEREAS, in late August,the Department of Justice notified the Police Department that the grant had been awarded in full; and, WHEREAS,total funding available to the Ames Police Department through this grant offering is $34,689; and, WHEREAS, the Department proposes to use the funds for equipment purchases; and, WHEREAS,the grant would also allow the Department to purchase seven ballistic shields for use in tactically challenging situations. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the 2010 Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs,and Bureau of Justice Assistance Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program is hereby accepted, and the Police Department is authorized to participate in this Program.
