HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Emergency repairs and restoration to CyRide Facility RESOLUTION NO. 10-380 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EMERGENCY REPAIRS AND RESTORATION TO CYRIDE FACILITY FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,due to the severe flooding of the City of Ames,the Cyride facility experienced flooding of the bus storage and maintenance shop with 12-18 inches of water,and the administrative office area was flooded with 12 inches of water; and, WHEREAS, at this time, the extent of the damage is unknown; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 384.103 of the Code oflowa, ... "when emergency repair of a public improvement is necessary and the delay of advertising and a public letting might cause serious loss or injury to the city, the governing body shall, by resolution, make a finding of the necessity to institute emergency proceedings under this section,and shall procure a certificate from a competent licensed professional engineer or registered architect,not in the regular employ of the city, certifying that emergency repairs are necessary; and, WHEREAS, in that event,the governing body may contract for emergency repairs without holding a public hearing and advertising for bids." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that staff is hereby authorized to enter into a contract for emergency repairs to the CyRide facility.
