HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement with ISU for Way-Finding Signs RESOLUTION NO. 10-182 RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT FOR IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY WAY-FINDING SIGNS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, on June 23, 2009, the City received a letter from Iowa State University regarding its project to establish way-finding signs on and surrounding the main campus area;and, WHEREAS, this project has included an extensive two-year effort by ISU to identify parts of campus that provide basic university services for new and existing residents of Ames; and, WHEREAS, staff has met on several occasions with ISU staff to outline the purpose of the project and to detail what is being proposed, as far as allowing ISU to place signs within portions of the City right-of-way; and, WHEREAS,City staff has reviewed all applicable local,state,and federal laws to ensure that these signs comply with the standards for community way-finding signs; and, WHEREAS, the City is in the beginning stages of creating a comparable system of way- finding signs to identify points of interest throughout the town,and it will be designed with a similar intent as the proposed ISU signs by identifying key civic, cultural, visitor, and recreational attractions, as well as other destinations within the city or downtown area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the agreement with Iowa State University for the installation of way-finding signs is hereby approved.
