HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Reduction in retention for 2009 Downtown Pavement Improvements Project RESOLUTION NO. 10-103 RESOLUTION APPROVING REDUCTION IN RETENTION AMOUNT FOR 2009 DOWNTOWN PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS (KELLOGG AVENUE) FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,this annual program is for the rehabilitation/reconstruction of streets within the downtown area(from Lincoln Way to 7t' Street and Grand Avenue to Duff Avenue); and, WHEREAS, the 2009/10 project location is Kellogg Avenue from Lincoln Way to Main Street; and, WHEREAS,on August 11,2009,the City Council awarded the contract to Con-Struct,Inc., of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of$715,254.30; and, WHEREAS, the roadway has been open to traffic since December 7, 2009, and the project is substantially complete; and, WHEREAS, on March 8, 2010, the Public Works Department received a request from the contractor to reduce the amount of project retention; and, WHEREAS,the remaining work to be completed as part of the contract includes placement of about 105 square yards of sidewalk at an estimated value of$4,750.00,and there is a requirement of a minimum of 200%of the value of the work to complete that must be withheld,and this amount will be $9,700; and, WHEREAS,the request meets the criteria of the Code oflowa for substantial completion of the project and all paperwork required to approve that the request has been received by the Public Works Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the reduction in the prof ect retainage for the 2009/10 Downtown Street Pavement Improvements Project (Kellogg Avenue from Lincoln Way to Main Street)to $9,700.00 is hereby approved.
