HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Revisions to NIP grant for Old Town Neighborhood RESOLUTION NO. 09-529 RESOLUTION APPROVING REVISIONS TO NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM GRANT FOR OLD TOWN NEIGHBORHOOD FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, Historic Old Town Neighborhood Association received funding through the Neighborhood Improvement Program(NIP)on August 11, 2009, for the first of three phases of the Old Town Park Renovation Project; and, WHEREAS,the first phase was to consist of rebuilding the south perennial planter bed and the small planter box near the existing seating area,the creation of a memorial plaque for John and Rowena Stevens in that small planter box,and the planting of a shrub border to the east of the south perennial bed; and, WHEREAS,of the total cost of the project($16,000),NIP funding was$5,000,cash and in- kind contributions from the Neighborhood Association was in the amount of$6,000, and the Parks and Recreation Department provided$5,000 towards this project; and, WHEREAS, on November 10, 2009, the Council referred to staff the Neighborhood Association's request for permission to revise the order of the phased project; and, WHEREAS, it is asking to delay the rebuilding of the small planter box and the memorial plaque to a future phase, and instead,to increase the plant materials in the shrub barrier and install limestone edging around the shrub barrier plantings. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the changes to the Neighborhood Improvement Program grant for the Historic Old Town Neighborhood Association is hereby approved.
