HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Comprehensive Historic Preservation Plan objectives and action steps RESOLUTION NO. 09-516 RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGES TO COMPREHENSIVE HISTORIC PRESERVATION PLAN OBJECTIVES AND ACTION STEPS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, on September 22, 2009,the City Council approved the "Action Steps"for the proposed Ames Comprehensive Historic Preservation Plan; and, WHEREAS, at that time, the Council also directed staff to obtain input from the Historic Preservation Commission on suggestions received from the State Historical Society of Iowa that would change, or add, to the "Objectives" and"Action Steps;" and, WHEREAS, following the direction given by the Council, the City Manager met with the chair of the Historic Preservation Commission,Consultant Will Page,and Planning&Housing staff to determine which suggested changes by the State Historical Society City staff could support; and, WHEREAS, on October 19, 2009, the Historic Preservation Commission reviewed the suggestions received from the State Historical Society and recommendations by City staff; and, WHEREAS,the Commission recommends that the City Council include the State Historical Society suggestions for Objectives and Action Steps in the proposed Historic Preservation Plan as modified by City staff,and in addition,it further recommends the addition of"Objective C"and two "Action Steps"to Goal#5. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the changes and additions by the State Historical Society to "Objectives" and"Action Steps" included in the final version of the Ames Comprehensive Historic Preservation Plan, as modified by staff, and with the addition to "Objective C" and two "Action Steps" for this Objective under "Goal#5" are hereby approved as attached hereto and made a part hereof by this reference.
