HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amendment to Internet Service Agreement RESOLUTION NO. 09-490 RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT TO INTERNET SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH QWEST COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, in order to provide additional Internet capacity and reliability required by the Electric Services Department, on January 27, 2009, the City Council approved a three-year agreement to obtain a T 1 Internet line and equipment from Qwest Communications at a three-year total estimated cost of$16,560; and, WHEREAS, a second T 1 Internet line is required in order to segregate public WiFi Internet traffic from City staff Internet traffic at City locations, and it is more economical to "bond" the second line to the Electric T 1 Internet line rather than to purchase the line separately, and, WHEREAS,the additional three-year total cost of the second T 1 Internet line is $12,060 in lieu of$17,820 for a separate line; and, WHEREAS,because the proposed contract covers more than one year and the cost is more than 20% of the original request, City Council approval is required. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the amendment to the three-year agreement with Qwest Communications to add a second T1 Internet line at an estimated three-year total cost of $29,880 for both Internet lines is hereby approved.
