RESOLUTION APPROVING SUSPENSION OF PARKING METER FEES
AND ENFORCEMENT FOR AMES HIGH HOMECOMING PARADE
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, the Ames High School has requested to hold its Homecoming Parade on
Monday, September 21, 2009; and,
WHEREAS, the parade will begin at the Grand Avenue overpass on Main Street, proceed
east on Main Street, north on Douglas Avenue, west on Fifth Street, and south on Pearle Avenue;
and,
WHEREAS, the parade will begin at 6:30 p.m., and, to help facilitate this event, Pearle
Avenue,Main Street,Fifth Street,and portions of Douglas Avenue and Clark Avenue will be closed
from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS, parade organizers are requesting a waiver of parking meter fees and
enforcement along the parade route from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS, lost revenue to the Parking Fund would equate to $100; and,
WHEREAS,the Main Street Cultural District has been informed of the parade and supports
the activity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the waiver of parking meter fees and enforcement along the parade route from 5:00 p.m. to
6:00 p.m. on September 21, 2009, for the Ames High Homecoming Parade is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 8`'day of September, 2009.
