RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURES FOR
AMES HIGH HOMECOMING PARADE
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, the Ames High School has requested to hold its Homecoming Parade on
Monday, September 21, 2009; and,
WHEREAS, the parade will begin at the Grand Avenue overpass on Main Street, proceed
east on Main Street, north on Douglas Avenue, west on Fifth Street, and south on Pearle Avenue;
and,
WHEREAS, the parade will begin at 6:30 p.m., and, to help facilitate this event, Pearle
Avenue,Main Street,Fifth Street,and portions of Douglas Avenue and Clark Avenue will be closed
from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS,barricades staffed by adult volunteers will be placed on streets along this route
for traffic control purposes; and,
WHEREAS, after the parade is concluded, a pep rally will be held at Bandshell Park; and,
WHEREAS,the Main Street Cultural District has been informed of the parade and supports
the activity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the request from Ames High School to close portions of the aforementioned streets for the
Homecoming Parade on September 21, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 8`'day of September, 2009.
