HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Preliminary Resolution for SE Entryway Project RESOLUTION NO. 09-358 PRELIMINARY RESOLUTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 384.42 OF THE IOWA CODE COVERING THE SOUTHEAST ENTRYWAY PROJECT, CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable that a certain improvement project in the City of Ames, Iowa, to be located as hereinafter described, be constructed in accordance with the provision of Chapter 384, Code of Iowa, and a portion of the cost thereof assessed to the property benefitted thereby; and, WHEREAS, the City has arranged for engineering services with the City's Department of Public Works in connection with said improvement, NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, as follows: Section 1. That the following shall be constructed as a single improvement and such improvement shall be located with terminal points and of materials and sizes as follows: Terminal Points Location a The south 10' of Parcel "H" of the NE%4 of the NE'/4 of Section 13 T83N R24W in the 5th P.M., Ames, Story County, Iowa(containing 6,886.85 square feet) Location 2 The south 10' of Parcel "G" of the NE'/4 of the NE%4 of Section 13 T83N R24W in the 5th P.M., Ames, Story County, Iowa (containing 3,062.63 square feet) Location 3 Commencing at the NE%4 corner of Section 13 T83N R24W in the 5th P.M.,Ames, Story County, Iowa; thence west 5U; thence south 328.3' to the point of beginning; thence south 10% thence. northwesterly 301.15' along the north right of way of US Hwy 30; thence north 10; thence northeasterly 301.15'along a line parallel to said ROW to the point ofbeginning(containing 2,966.6 square feet) Location 4 The south 10'of Lot 1,Minard's Plat 1,Ames,Story County,Iowa(containing 1,693.59 square feet) Location 5 The south 10'of Lot 2,Minard's Plat 1,Ames,Story County,Iowa(containing 4,161.26 square feet) Location 6 Commencing at the SE Corner of Lot 1, Dayton Park Subdivision, 4th Addition to Ames, Story County, Iowa; thence southwesterly 70.33' along the west right of way southbound off ramp of Interstate 35 to the point of beginning; thence southwesterly 916.14',more or less, along said right of way, said right of way turning into the north right of way of US Highway 30, to the southeast corner of Lot 2, Minard's Plat 1,Ames,Story County, Iowa;thence north 10' along the east line of said Lot 2; thence northeasterly 896.42',more or less,along a line parallel to said Highway right of way to a point 40' south of the north line of Section 18, T83W R24N; thence east 10' along a line parallel to the north line of said section to the point of beginning, all in the 5th P.M., Story County, Iowa(containing 9,054.04 square feet, more or less) And The northerly l 0'of that portion of the NW'/, of the NW%, of Section 18 T83N R23 W abutting the south right of way of US Highway 30, except the west 398,43' of said section, all in the 5th P.M., Story County, Iowa(containing 12,223.98 square feet, more or less) All of this property is within the Ames City Limits. A general description of the property or a designation of the lots which the City Council believes will be specially benefitted by the said improvement are set out on Appendix A attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof as if fully set out. Section 3. That the Engineers are hereby ordered to prepare preliminary plans and specifications, an estimated cost of the work and a plat and schedule and to file the same with the Clerk, and shall include in the estimated cost a default fund item of not to exceed 10%of the amount to be assessed against specially benefitted property. Section 4. That the improvement shall he known as the Southeast Entryway Project, and shall be so referred to in all subsequent proceedings. Section 5.
