HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Revisions to Personnel Policies & Procedures Manual RESOLUTION NO. 09-262 RESOLUTION APPROVING REVISIONS TO PERSONNEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the Human Resources Department has identified several areas of the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual that need to be revised; and, WHEREAS,the current language regarding Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action in Chapter 3 references the position of Assistant to the City Manager, which should be re- titled as Assistant City Manager; and, WHEREAS, the current language regarding emergency leave is being revised to provide more consistent administration of this leave among departments, and the proposed language limits the use of emergency leave for serious illness to one occurrence per fiscal year; and, WHEREAS, lastly,with the Iowa Supreme Court's recent decision on same-sex marriages, there is a reference to a husband and wife in the policy on employment of relatives that needs to be revised, and this would remove this reference and replace it with the word"spouse." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the revisions to the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual are hereby approved.
