RESOLUTION APPROVING 2009/10 PAY PLAN
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, each year,the Council approves a Pay Plan that specifies pay ranges and steps
for the City's work force; and,
WHEREAS, the 20009/10 Pay Plan reflects the negotiated wage settlements with the five
bargaining units as well as a 3.5% scale increase for merit employee job classifications; and,
WHEREAS, the bargaining units' respective across-the-board settlements are 3.5% for
IUOE-Blue Collar,3.5%for IBEW-Electric Distribution,3.5%for IUOE-Electric Production,3.5%
for IAFF-Fire, and 3.8% for PPME-Police; and,
WHEREAS, unclassified job categories are adjusted proportionally with merit or union
employees for the relevant labor market; and,
WHEREAS,actual salaries paid to union employees are determined based upon time in grade
in the respective positions, and actual salaries paid to merit employees are based upon performance
appraisals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the 2009/10 Pay Plan is hereby approved.
