HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for Rehabilitation of George Washington Carver Avenue RESOLUTION NO. 09-215 RESOLUTION APPROVING IDOT AGREEMENT FOR REHABILITATION OF GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER AVENUE FROM FEDERAL STIMULUS PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, this project is for patching and an unbonded concrete overlay of George Washington Carver Avenue from Stange Road to Bloomington Road; and, WHEREAS, on March 3, 2009, the Ames Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) approved this project for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which is also known as the Federal Stimulus; and, WHEREAS,the other projects also approved were the Lincoln Way resurfacing project and the Skunk River shared-use path; and, WHEREAS, it is anticipated that this project will be bid in August 2009, but before the project can proceed, the City must enter into an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation(IDOT); and, WHEREAS, the project will receive 100% funding for construction in the amount of $1,000,000 from ARRA funding, however, engineering and project administration costs are not covered by this funding; and, WHEREAS, savings from prior General Obligation bond issues are available to cover the costs of these activities; and, WHEREAS, total engineering and administration costs for all three ARRA projects are estimated at $200,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the funding agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for the Rehabilitation of George Washington Carver Avenue from Stange Road to Bloomington Road is hereby approved.
