HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Installation of electrical outlets in Bandshell Park RESOLUTION NO. 09-189 RESOLUTION APPROVING INSTALLATION OF ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL OUTLETS IN BANDSHELL PARK FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the City Council recently received a request for additional electrical outlets in Bandshell Park, and, currently, a number of outlets exist on a steel framework adjacent to the pad- mounted transformer located in the southwest corner of the park; and, WHEREAS, the Main Street Cultural District (MSCD) is requesting four additional 120v boxes near the existing light poles along the sidewalk west and north of the Bandshell and one additional 240v outlet near the transformer; and, WHEREAS, staff has reviewed this proposal with a local contractor and will be able to add the outlets at the five locations,and to save money,pedestals currently underutilized in the south end of Welch Avenue and Campustown will be relocated to Bandshell Park to provide the outlets at the sites; and, WHEREAS, the MSCD is proposing that the City pay for the installation work (approximately$2,200) and that the City be reimbursed approximately$1,000 for this year's 4`'of July events; and, WHEREAS,because the electrical use at the Bandshell is typically related to events that draw people from throughout the City, as well as from other cities,the use of Hotel/Motel Tax revenues for this project appears advisable. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the installation of additional electrical outlets in Bandshell Park as requested with approximately $1,000 of the cost recovered through 4t1i of July event fees is hereby approved, and the funding for this project is to come from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund.
