RESOLUTION APPROVING TSIP GRANT AGREEMENT
FOR 2009/10 TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROGRAM
(LINCOLN WAY AND ASH AVENUE)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the Traffic Signal Program provides for replacing older traffic signals and for
constructing new traffic signals in the City, and this program will result in improved visibility,
reliability, and appearance of signals; and,
WHEREAS,the location chosen for the 2009/10 program is the intersection of Lincoln Way
and Ash Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, this project was chosen to receive State Traffic Safety Improvement Program
(TSIP) funding for eligible construction costs to a maximum amount of$50,000; and,
WHEREAS,additional funds are planned in the amount of$125,000 from the Road Use Tax
Fund for the remaining proj ect costs,and this brings the total estimated project funding to$175,000;
and,
WHEREAS,after acceptance of the Iowa Department of Transportation(IDOT)agreement,
City staff will begin preparation of the design and specifications for this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the agreement with the MOT providing up to $50,000 in State TSIP funds for the 2009/10
Traffic Signal Program(Lincoln Way and Ash Avenue) is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 14`h day of April, 2009.
