RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURES
FOR MGMC HOPE RUN/WALK
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,Mary Greeley Medical Center(MGMC)is sponsoring the Ninth Annual Hope
Run/Walk on Saturday, June 13, 2009, beginning at 7:00 a.m., and the event will be held in
conjunction with the Mary Greeley Fest event occurring in Bandshell Park from 8:00 a.m. until
1:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS, The Hope Run/Walk route will begin on 5th Street,west of Duff Avenue, and
proceed west on 5th Street to Burnett Avenue, north on Burnett Avenue to 8th Street, west on 8th
Street to Wilson Avenue, north on Wilson Avenue to 12t' Street, east on 12th Street to Kellogg
Avenue, and south on Kellogg Avenue,back to 5th Street; and,
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate the movement of the participants in the Run/Walk,
temporary street closures will be needed from 5:30 to 10:30 a.m. on June 13 as follows: 5th Street
west of Duff Avenue to Burnett Avenue;Burnett Avenue, 5t'Street to 12'Street; 8'Street,Wilson
Avenue to Kellogg Avenue;Kellogg Avenue,5th Street to 12t'Street; 12th Street,Wilson Avenue to
Kellogg Avenue; and Wilson Avenue, 8th Street to 12th Street; and,
WHEREAS, event organizers are further requesting that 5th Street east of Duff Avenue to
Carroll Avenue be closed for exhibitors during the Fest; and,
WHEREAS,the organizers will notify occupants of properties along the race route about the
temporary street closures, and no additional parking restrictions will be imposed as there are
alternate-side parking regulations already in place on the affected streets,which allow for adequate
space on the streets for the runners.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the aforementioned street closures for the Hope Run/Walk on June 13,2009, from 5:30 a.m.to
10:30 a.m. are hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 24th day of March, 2009.
