HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for 2009/10 CyRide Route Pavement Improvements Program RESOLUTION NO. 09-065 RESOLUTION APPROVING ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR 2009/10 CYRIDE ROUTE PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM (ASH AVENUE AND KNAPP STREET) FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,this is the annual program for pavement improvements to streets that are bus routes, and these streets were designed and built for light, residential traffic; and, WHEREAS, with these streets designated as bus routes, accelerated deterioration of the street surface has occurred, and pavement improvements will restore street sections to carry projected traffic volumes; and, WHEREAS, the 2009/10 project locations are Ash Avenue(Lincoln Way to Knapp Street) and Knapp Street(Lynn Avenue to Ash Avenue); and, WHEREAS, staff requested engineering proposals for 13 shared use path, drainage, and street improvement projects, and through this process, the City received 120 proposals from 13 engineering firms; and, WHEREAS, Veenstra & Kimm, Inc., is being recommended to complete the design for this project due to its prior experience on Ames street projects, as well as its strong project approach; and, WHEREAS, services to be performed by the consultant include base survey, evaluation of construction techniques, preparation of plans and specifications to meet local letting standards, conducting a public informational meeting,notification/coordination with right-of-way users and adjacent land owners, and attendance at the pre-construction meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Engineering Services Agreement with Veenstra & Kimm, Inc., of West Des Moines, Iowa, in an amount not to exceed$49,450 for the 2009/10 CyRide Route Pavement Improvements Project is hereby approved.
