HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for 2008/09 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements Program RESOLUTION NO. 09-060 RESOLUTION APPROVING ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR 2008/09 ARTERIAL STREET PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM AND PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,this annual program utilizes current repair techniques to improve arterial streets with asphalt or concrete, and these pavement improvements are needed to restore structural integrity, serviceability, and rideability; and, WHEREAS, targeted streets are reaching a point of accelerated deterioration, and by improving these streets prior to excessive problems, the service life will be extended; and, WHEREAS,the 2008/09 project location is North Dakota Avenue from 600 feet south of Delaware Avenue to Ontario Street; and, WHEREAS, staff requested engineering proposals for 13 shared use path, drainage, and street improvement projects,and through this process,the City received 120 proposals from 13 engineering firms; and, WHEREAS,Howard R. Green is being recommended to complete the design for this project due to its extensive project knowledge and approach; and, WHEREAS, services to be performed by the consultant include base survey, evaluation of construction techniques,preparation of plans and specifications to meet Iowa Department of Transportation requirements,conducting a public informational meeting,notification/coordination with right-of-way users and adjacent land owners, and attendance at the pre-construction meeting. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the Engineering Services Agreement with Howard R.Green of Des Moines,Iowa,in an amount not to exceed $190,500 for the 2008/09 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements Project and the Pedestrian Walkway Program is hereby approved.
