HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Storm sewer easement at Stanton Avenue and Chamberlain Street RESOLUTION NO. 09-031 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING STORM SEWER EASEMENT WITH IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY FOR 2006/07 ANNUAL RESIDENTIAL STREET LOW POINT DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS (STANTON AVENUE AND CHAMBERLAIN STREET) FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the annual program for drainage improvements is to decrease flooding at low points, and these low point drainage improvements are not focused on residential street locations, but rather on those locations most in need of the improvements as affected by standing water, flooding, and insufficient pipe capacity; and, WHEREAS, during heavy rain, some areas become flooded and damage to private property occasionally occurs,and this program provides for installation of drainage improvements to decrease this flooding at low points; and, WHEREAS, as part of this project, an easement is required to connect new storm sewer to a culvert on Iowa State University(ISU)property south of Lake LaVerne; and, WHEREAS,before the Board of Regents can approve the easement,it must be approved by the City Council; and, WHEREAS, the easement will be granted at no cost to the City, but there will be some financial arrangement for reimbursing ISU for tree removal and replacement and for grading and seeding as part of this project/easement acquisition; and, WHEREAS, with the easement in place, work can begin on the project this summer when ISU is in summer session. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the storm sewer easement with Iowa State University for the 2006/07 Annual Residential Street Low Point Drainage Improvements Project (Stanton Avenue and Chamberlain Street) is hereby accepted.
