HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Change Order for South Duff Area Storm Sewer Reconstruction RESOLUTION NO. 09-005 RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER TO ENGINEERING SERVICES CONTRACT FOR SOUTH DUFF AVENUE AREA STORM SEWER RECONSTRUCTION FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the South Duff Avenue Area Storm Sewer Reconstruction Project is to occur between the South 2nd Street/Duff Avenue intersection to the Lincoln Way/Kellogg Avenue area; and, WHEREAS,the project apart of a larger project that included construction of a storm sewer along South Borne Avenue extending to Squaw Creek, west along South 3rd Street to Sumner Avenue, north to South 2nd Street, and west to Kellogg Avenue; and, WHEREAS, the new construction will eliminate storm sewers that cross private property under existing buildings and houses; and, WHEREAS, the City Council approved an engineering services contract with Howard R. Green Company of Urbandale,Iowa,in an amount not to exceed$77,000,and this contract included topographic survey,preliminary plans,public coordination,and final design/plan development;and, WHEREAS, further into the design, it was decided to add four blocks of water main on Kellogg Avenue and Sherman Street and to add the street reconstruction on 2nd Street from Sherman Avenue to Kellogg Avenue and Kellogg Avenue from 2nd Street to the alley to the north; and, WHEREAS,this will accomplish several objectives in the area while the storm sewerproject is underway. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the change order to the engineering services contract with Howard R. Green Company for the South Duff Avenue Area Storm Sewer Reconstruction in an amount not to exceed$29,000 is hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 6`'day of January, 2009. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk Ann H.
