HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Reallocation of funding for Brookside Park Pedestrian Bridge Project RESOLUTION NO. 08-382 RESOLUTION APPROVING AUTHORIZING REALLOCATION OF FUNDING FOR BROOKSIDE PARK PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the 2007-08 Capital Improvements Plan(CIP)includes$220,000 to replace the wood suspension bridge at Brookside Park; and, WHEREAS,prior to the flooding that occurred in May and June,the bridge was in need of replacement,however, following the floods, a structural engineer reported the overall condition of the structure was very poor and recommended that the bridge remain closed until its replacement; and, WHEREAS, the total for the original allocation is not$248,000,which is $28,000 over the original allocation; and, WHEREAS, another$30,000 project in the 2007/08 CIP has yet to be completed, and this project would have involved renovating the limestone walls and walkway leading to the east approach of this same bridge; and, WHEREAS, it was determined that the bridge should be replaced prior to this work being accomplished, and the limestone walls and walkway could be delayed; and, WHEREAS, this would allow $28,000 of that$30,000 project funding to be reallocated to replacing the bridge. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the reallocation of$30,000 in funding from the Brookside Park limestone wall and walkway project for the Brookside Park Pedestrian Bridge project is hereby authorized.
