HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Plans/specs for New Pumps at WPC Plant RESOLUTION NO. 08-370 RESOLUTION APPROVING PRELIMINARY PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR NEW PUMPS AT WATER POLLUTION CONTROL PLANT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, currently, there are 14 pumps at the Water Pollution Control Plant—six in the raw water pump station and eight in the trickling filter pump station; and, WHEREAS,these pumps are 18 years old,and all pumps are scheduled for replacement over the next five years according to the 2008/2013 Capital Improvements Plant; and, WHEREAS,the 2008/2013 CIP includes$180,000 for pump replacement in each of the five years of the project, and the CIP planned for three pump replacements each year at $60,000 each; and, WHEREAS, the anticipated cost of the new equipment is approximately$75,000 for each pump—higher than originally estimated;however,because of several emergency repairs to the pumps earlier this spring, only two pumps will be replaced this year; and, WHEREAS, because these new pumps are similar to the existing pumps, WPC Plant staff will install the new equipment upon arrival. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the preliminary plans and specifications for the New Pumps at the Water Pollution Control Plant are hereby approved, and the bid due date is set for September 25, 2008.
