HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Water Plant Infrastructure and Capacity Needs Assessment RESOLUTION NO. 08-358 RESOLUTION APPROVING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT FOR WATER PLANT INFRASTRUCTURE AND CAPACITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the FY 2008/09 Capital Improvements Plan(CIP) includes the initial evaluation of the infrastructure and capacity needs for the Water Treatment Plant Project, and this assessment is the initial concept development phase for an anticipated Water Treatment Plan expansion,renovation, and/or replacement; and, WHEREAS,on April 8,2008,staff presented Council with a formal consultant solicitation and selection process; and, WHEREAS,a nine-person selection team was assembled consisting of operations,maintenance, engineering, and management employees; and, WHEREAS, Statements of Interest were received from six firms, and after reviewing the introductory qualifications provided, staff was concerned that two of the firms did not appear to have sufficient resources to complete the work; and, WHEREAS,staff shared these concerns with the firms and gave them the option of continuing in the selection process—of which one of the firms chose to continue; and, WHEREAS,after all interviews were completed,the preferred consultant was FOX Engineering Associates of Ames, Iowa; and, WHEREAS, staff recommends that the Council award the contract to FOX Engineering Associates in an amount not to exceed$243,000 for the Water Plant Infrastructure and Capacity Needs Assessment. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that a professional services contract for the Water Plant Infrastructure and Capacity Needs Assessment with FOX Engineering Associates of Ames, Iowa, in an amount not to exceed $243,000, without prior approval is hereby approved.
