RESOLUTION NO. 08-348 RESOLUTION APPROVING AUTHORIZATION FOR MAYOR TO SIGN CERTIFICATE OF CONSISTENCY WITH 2004/09 CDBG CONSOLIDATED PLAN ON BEHALF OF YSS,INC. FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,since 1995,Youth and Shelter Services(YSS)has received grant funds through the Department of Housing and Urban Development's(HUD)Supportive Housing Program(SHP); and, WHEREAS, under this program, YSS administers its Lighthouse Transitional Living Programs in Story,Boone,Hardin,and Marshall Counties,which targets young mothers who are 16- 25 years of age, homeless youth ages 16-21, and homeless pregnant/parenting women ages 16-25 and their children; and, WHEREAS, the HUD funds are for leasing of rental properties, supportive services, and operations for the clients; and, WHEREAS,the renewal funding application request is for approximately$189,670,of which about$54,000 is designated for Story County; and, WHEREAS,since Ames is a designated entitlement community,agencies requesting funding from HUD must have approval from the City that its program application matches the goals of the City's Consolidated Plan; and, WHEREAS, in order for YSS to submit its application to the State of Iowa, it must receive certification from the City of Ames that its application is consistent with the goals outlined in the City's Consolidated Plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that authorization for the mayor to sign the Certificate of Consistency with the City's 2004/09 CDBG Consolidated Plan on behalf of Youth and Shelter Services, Inc., is hereby approved.
