HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Watershed Improvement Review Board funding request RESOLUTION NO. 08-287 RESOLUTION APPROVING FUNDING REQUEST FROM WATERSHED IMPROVEMENT REVIEW BOARD FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the Public Works Department,in partnership with Iowa State University(ISU) Landscape Architecture scientists, has been awarded a grant from the Watershed Improvement Review Board(WIRB) for improvements to College Creek; and, WHEREAS,the grant titled"Establishing and Monitoring Stream Stabilization Practices for Water Quality Enhancement" is in the amount of$304,335 over a three-year term; and, WHEREAS, the water quality enhance goal of this project is to reduce sediment delivery specifically from unstable streambanks and degrading stream channels on College Creek; and, WHEREAS,this project will also redirect urban storm water run-off into engineered systems, intercepting it from storm drains entering College Creek; and, WHEREAS, the WIRB meets bi-annually to approve funding requests, and these requests include partial allocation for expenses anticipated during the next six-month period. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the partial allocation of funds from the Watershed Improvement Review Board is hereby approved.
