RESOLUTION APPROVING RECOMMENDATIONS FROM
PUBLIC ART COMMISSION FOR PURCHASE OF ARTWORK
FOR NEIGHBORHOOD ART PROGRAM
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, at this monthly meeting in April, the Public Art Commission voted to
recommend that the City purchase "Air Bass Guitar"by Jaak Kindberg for $1,200; and,
WHEREAS,the piece was originally installed in Tom Evans Plaza as a 2007/08 Art Around
the Corner exhibit; and,
WHEREAS, the Main Street Cultural District submitted a Neighborhood Sculpture
application requesting that the piece remain where it is, because of the many music concerts and
festivals that occur in this plaza; and,
WHEREAS, funding for this purchase is included in the 2007/08 budget of $4,000 for
Neighborhood Art.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the purchase of abovementioned artwork in the amount of$1,200 for the Neighborhood Art
Program is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 27`h day of May, 2008.
