RESOLUTION APPROVING PURCHASE OF
MINIBUS FOR TRANSIT DEPARTMENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, CyRide operates eight minibuses in daily operation on its routes or as
supervisory vehicles; and,
WHEREAS,federal funding was secured earlier this year for 83%of the replacement of one
minibus currently in operation,and the local match of$10,596.95 is available in the 2008/09 budget;
and,
WHEREAS, CyRide's staff has been weighing the options of procuring this vehicle on its
own or joining with the statewide small bus procurement being directed by the Ottumwa transit
system, and this procurement allows for other transit systems to take advantage of"options" for
additional vehicles under this contract; and,
WHEREAS,after researching the price and process to complete this procurement on its own,
it was determined that it was more beneficial for CyRide to join in the statewide procurement due
to the saving in staff time and price received; and,
WHEREAS, the following are details regarding the bus to be purchased: 176", light-duty
minibus, purchase price of$62,335, estimated delivery date in late July/early August 2008, and
manufactured by Supreme Corporation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the purchase of one minibus under the Ottumwa(Region 15)procurement of vehicles is hereby
approved.
