RESOLUTION APPROVING SUPPLEMENTAL ENGINEERING
SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR GRAND AVENUE EXTENSION
(SOUTH 4TH STREET TO SQUAW CREEK DRIVE)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,the Ames Area Metropolitan Planning Organization's(AAMPO)Long Range
Transportation Plan(LRTP)identifies the need to extend Grand Avenue from Lincoln Way to South
16th Street as a strategy to relieve congestion from the Lincoln Way/Duff Avenue area; and,
WHEREAS,the fist phase of this extension was completed to approximately 350 feet south
of Lincoln Way at the HyVee entrance,and this second phase extends Grand Avenue from this point
south to Squaw Creek Drive; and,
WHEREAS,the third and final phase will complete the extension to South 16t'Street; and,
WHEREAS,on October 24,2006,the Council approved the engineering services agreement
for the second phase with Howard R. Green in an amount not to exceed $644,233; and,
WHEREAS, right-of-way acquisition and construction administration consulting services
have continued since the original agreement was established; and,
WHEREAS, additional services included within the supplemental agreement are revisions
to the construction drawings to incorporate modifications agreed upon through the land acquisition
process and construction administration clarification/revisions for the structurally designed retaining
wall.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the supplemental engineering services agreement with Howard R. Green of Des Moines,Iowa,
in the amount not to exceed$16,850.00 for the Grand Avenue Extension(South 4th Street to Squaw
Creek Drive) is hereby approved, subject to receipt of the Iowa Department of Transportation and
Federal Highway Administration concurrence.
ADOPTED THIS 22"d day of April, 2008.
