HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Traffic Signal Improvements at 13th Street/Grand Avenue RESOLUTION NO. 08-137 RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT TO ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS AT 13TH STREET AND GRAND AVENUE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the U.S. Highway 69 Intersection Improvement Project at 13t1i Street was initially identified in the Long Range Transportation Plan to include left-turn lanes in all four directions, and throughout 2007, the Council and staff met with citizens to discuss the potential project impacts; and, WHEREAS,in response,the proj ect's scope underwent several significant changes requiring the modification of the engineering services agreement with consultants WHKS & Company; and, WHEREAS, the City Council directed staff to modify the focus of the project from full reconstruction,the signalized alternative with equal widening,to replacement of the traffic signal system only; and, WHEREAS, this change of scope from the project's initial form required WHKS & Company to amend the engineering services agreement to include the following: traffic signal design, drafting of right-of-way easements(for traffic signal poles to meet clear-zone requirements),and final construction plans, specifications, and estimates; and, WHEREAS, these additional tasks will replace partially completed tasks included in the base agreement,bringing this amendment to the engineering services agreement to an amount not to exceed $23,830; and, WHEREAS,the total engineering services for the U.S. Highway 69 Intersection Improvements would equal $113,902. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that Change Order No. 3 to the engineering services agreement with WHKS & Company of Mason City, Iowa, for the U.S. Highway 69 Intersection Improvements Project (13`h Street/Grand Avenue) in an amount not to exceed $23,830 is hereby approved.
