RESOLUTION APPROVING TEMPORARY PARKING RESTRICTIONS
FOR HOPE RUN/WALK
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, Mary Greeley Medical Center (MGMC) is sponsoring the Eighth Annual Hope
Run/Walk on Saturday,June 14,2008,beginning at 7:00 a.m.,and the event is being held in conjunction
with the Day for All Ages event occurring in Inis Grove Park; and,
WHEREAS,in order to facilitate the movement of the participants in the Run/Walk,temporary
parking restrictions need to be approved so that no parking is allowed from 5:30 - 10:30 a.m. on both
sides of East 24th Street,Broadmoor Avenue,Duff Avenue from Broadmoor Avenue to East 20th Street,
East 201h Street from Duff Avenue to Meadowlane Avenue,and on the east side of Meadowlane Avenue;
and,
WHEREAS, event organizers will notify occupants of properties along the race route about the
temporary parking and traffic restrictions; and,
WHEREAS, Public Works will provide "No Parking" signs for the above streets on Friday
afternoon; and,
WHEREAS,MGMC volunteers will place the signs and barricades before the race,remove them
afterwards, and take them to a location in Inis Grove Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,that
the request from MGMC to temporarily restrict parking on the aforementioned streets for the Hope
Run/Walk on Saturday, June 14, 2008, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 25th day of March, 2008.
