HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Purchase of CyRide mini-bus RESOLUTION NO. 07-520 RESOLUTION APPROVING PURCHASE OF CYRIDE MINI-BUS THROUGH STATE-WIDE BID PROCESS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,CyRide contracts with Heartland Senior Services(HSS)for service required under the Americans With Disabilities(ADA)Act; and, WHEREAS,this contract is for operating expenses only,and HSS uses its own vehicles to operate this service for CyRide,which is combined with other service provided within the community; and, WHEREAS, while this contracting arrangement has been a beneficial arrangement for both organizations and the community,HSS's lack of capital resources has created a hardship for the organization and has resulted in less comfortable vehicles for the rider; and, WHEREAS,in an effort to assist HSS with the service it provides for CyRide,it was decided during the Capital Improvement Plan process last year that one vehicle would be purchased by CyRide and leased to HSS for the operations of service to clients under CyRide's contract; and, WHEREAS,CyRide maintenance staff has been working with HSS to identify a vehicle that would be acceptable to both organizations and has identified an opportunity to be part of a larger state-wide contract for mini-buses; and, WHEREAS, a procurement was completed by the transit system in Ottumwa, Iowa, (Region 15) following all required Federal Transit Administration rules and regulations,and this procurement allows for other transit systems to take advantage of"options"for additional vehicles under this contract; and, WHEREAS,CyRide could opt for one of these options and purchase the vehicle for HSS under this contract; and, WHEREAS, if this vehicle is purchased under this bid, CyRide staff will begin developing a draft contract between CyRide and HSS for the lease of this vehicle. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the purchase of one mini-bus under the Ottumwa (Region 15) procurement of vehicles state-wide is hereby approved.
