HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Transfer of land to City for Grand Avenue Extension RESOLUTION NO. 07-506 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING TRANSFER OF LAND FROM THE STATE OF IOWA FOR THE GRAND AVENUE EXTENSION PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Ames Area Metropolitan Planning Organization's (AAMPO) Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) identifies the need to extend Grand Avenue from Lincoln Way to South 161h Street as a strategy to relive congestion from the Lincoln Way Duff Avenue area,and the first phase of this extension was completed to approximately 3 50 feet south of Lincoln Way at the HyVee entrance; and, WHEREAS,this second phase will extend Grand Avenue from this point south to Squaw Creek Drive; and, WHEREAS, the third and final phase will complete the extension to South 16`h Street; and, WHEREAS, as part of the project,the Iowa Department of Transportation(IDOT)is donating the state-owned land required as right-of-way adjacent to IDOT properties,and this includes land along the south side of South 4th Street along the west side of Grandwood Drive(former railroad right-of-way) and along the east part of the headquarters parcel adjacent to HyVee. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the transfer of land from the State of Iowa for the Grand Avenue Extension Project as indicated above is hereby accepted.
