HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Rescission of contract for public use of restrooms in Campustown RESOLUTION NO. 07-489 RESOLUTION VOIDING CONTRACT FOR PUBLIC USE OF RESTROOMS IN CAMPUSTOWN FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the City recently entered into an agreement with Campustown Property Management(CPM) for public use of restrooms at 200 Stanton Avenue and 303 Welch Avenue; and, WHEREAS,after the contract was signed by both parties,CPM received negative feedback from residential and commercial tenants at 303 Welch about the arrangement; and, WHEREAS, a letter was received from CPM indicating a desire to terminate our formal arrangement for public use of the private restrooms,and in lieu of this arrangement,CPM has expressed a willingness to make restrooms available to the public at 200 Stanton on an experimental basis without any charge to the City; and, WHEREAS, the situation will be monitored for the next eight weeks to determine if any problems associated with vandalism occur at this site, and it not,the company is willing to continue to make these restrooms available to the public and perhaps revisit the possibility of including the restrooms at 303 Welch Avenue; and, WHEREAS, since the restrooms have never been open to the public, no payments have been made under the agreement and the 30-day notification period has not elapsed,the City Council would void the contract with Campustown Property Management for public restrooms. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the contract with Campustown Property Management for public use ofrestrooms at 200 Stanton Avenue and 303 Welch Avenue is hereby voided.
