RESOLUTION APPROVING NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECT
GRANT FOR 2007/08
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, on August 14,2007,three Neighborhood Improvement Project(NIP) grants were
approved by the City Council totaling$8,595.03,and the State Avenue/Arbor Street Tree Planting NIP
was approved in the amount of$5,000 by the Council on August 28, 2007; and,
WHEREAS, two grant applications are still pending approval, one of which is the Sapphire
Circle Landscaping Project; and,
WHEREAS,there are two main goals of the NIP: 1)to strengthen a neighborhood's appearance
with the addition of permanent physical improvements,and 2)to promote a greater sense of community
through resident participation in a neighborhood project; and,
WHEREAS, after follow-up discussions with the applicant and minor revisions to the grant
application, the City Review Panel now recommends that the grant for funding of the Sapphire Circle
Landscaping Project be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,that
the expenditure of $689 to fund the Sapphire Circle Neighborhood Improvement Project is hereby
approved.
ADOPTED THIS 9`' day of October, 2007.
