HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Change order for Boiler and Cooling Tower Treatment Services RESOLUTION NO. 07-441 RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER FOR BOILER AND COOLING TOWER TREATMENT SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, on June 26, 2007, the Council awarded a contract for Power Plant Boiler and Cooling Tower Water Treatment Services to Nalco Company of Peoria, Illinois, based on proposals received by the Electric Services Department; and, WHEREAS, the contract was for a four-month period(through October 2007)with the option to extend the contract through June 30, 2008; and, WHEREAS, under this contract, Nalco Company provides the chemicals and services for chemical treatment for the boilers, cooling tower, Mary Greeley Medical Center evaporator, and ash ponds, and the chemicals and services provided under this contract are essential for the operation of the Power Plant; and, WHEREAS,this proposed change order would add enough money towards the current contract to keep operations in place until the new contract is awarded, and the new contract is intended to be in place by November 1, 2007; and, WHEREAS,the proposed change order would add$50,000 onto the contract,and this additional funding is needed due to the higher cost of chemical services experienced with the boiler tube failures in Unit 8. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,that Change Order No. I in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for Boiler and Cooling Tower Treatment Services with Nalco Company of Peoria, Illinois, is hereby approved.
