HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street closures for AHS Homecoming Parade RESOLUTION NO. 07-411 RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURES FOR AMES HIGH HOMECOMING PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,the Ames High School has requested to hold its Homecoming Parade on Monday, October 1, 2007; and, WHEREAS,the parade will begin at the Grand Avenue overpass on Main Street,proceed east on Main Street, north on Douglas Avenue, west of Fifth Street, and south on Pearle Avenue; and, WHEREAS, the parade will last approximately 45 to 60 minutes and will begin at 6:30 p.m.; and, WHEREAS, to help facilitate this event, Pearle Avenue,Main Street, Fifth Street,portions of Douglas Avenue, and Clark Avenue will be closed from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and, WHEREAS,barricades staffed by adult volunteers will be placed on streets along this route for traffic control purposes; and, WHEREAS, the staging area for the parade will be in City Hall Parking Lot N, and to accommodate activities in this staging area,the parking lot will be closed from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m; and, WHEREAS,the Main Street Cultural District has been informed of the parade and supports the activity. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the request from Ames High School to close portions of the aforementioned streets for the Homecoming Parade on October 1, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. is hereby approved.
