HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract for services with AEDC RESOLUTION NO. 07-314 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT FOR SERVICES WITH THE AMES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,on January 9,2007,the Council directed staff to explore the agreement between the City of Ames and the Ames Economic Development Commission(AEDC)with the intent to bring it up to date using a contract for services format; and, WHEREAS,the organization and the City financial support has evolved over time without any corresponding modification to the original agreement; and, WHEREAS,the financial support from the City has increased from the original annual amount of$20,000 to the current level of$75,817; and, WHEREAS, increases in the City's financial support have occurred over the years through Council action, and the most recent example was in February 2003 when the Council voted during the budget hearings to provide an additional $10,000 to the AEDC; and, WHEREAS, under the current arrangement, funding is not guaranteed to the AEDC each year because an amount must be appropriated annually in the budget process by the City Council; and, WHEREAS,in the past,the AEDC has not been required to enter into an agreement with the City each year specifying which services the Council will purchase in return for the monies provided. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,that the contract for services with the Ames Economic Development Commission is hereby approved; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,that the AEDC is required each year to request funding for specific services that will be guaranteed in an agreement with the City of Ames.
